Trend forecast of MTP cabling system in future data centers.

In smaller networks (such as 10G cabling systems), both Base-8 and Base-12 MTP/MPO fiber cabling systems can be seamlessly converted to 2-core cabling systems. However, for the cabling of large data centers (such as 40G, 100G or even 400G cabling systems), Base-8 MTP/MPO cabling systems have a wider market acceptance range, because the use of 8-core optical modules can deploy more 40G and 100G connections .

The same is true for the 400G direct connection solution using 400G QSFP-DD optical modules and MTP-16 trunk cables. In addition, since a Base-24 MTP/MPO cable can be divided into three Base-12 MTP/MPO fiber optic patch cords, the Base-8 MTP/MPO fiber optic patch cord can be used with Base-24 MTP/MPO fiber optic patch cords. Use with seam and ground. Nowadays, the deployment of 10G networks can still use the Base-8 MTP/MPO fiber optic cabling system, because it will be easier and more economical to upgrade the network to 40G or 100G. The Base-12 MTP/MPO fiber optic cabling system is not the best choice for an optical module with 8 fibers.
