On August 9th, 2023, Qualcomm Technologies announced a significant breakthrough in 5G performance boundaries with its Snapdragon X75 5G modem and RF system, achieving an impressive downlink transmission speed of up to 7.5 Gbps in the Sub-6GHz frequency band, setting a new global record.

This achievement builds upon the foundation laid by the world's first 5G Advanced-ready modem and RF system, the Snapdragon X75, which was unveiled in February this year during the MWC Barcelona event. It demonstrates Qualcomm's continuous efforts to surpass 5G performance limits and enhance 5G flexibility.

The successful connection was established through terminal testing on a 5G Standalone (SA) network configuration. This was accomplished by aggregating carrier aggregation with four TDD carriers in a single downlink link, creating a total bandwidth of 300MHz. The 1024QAM technology contributed to achieving this remarkable rate.

Aggregating the four TDD carrier channels enables operators to fully utilize their diverse spectrum assets, resulting in higher data transmission rates. Moreover, compared to 256QAM, 1024QAM achieves higher data throughput and spectrum efficiency by incorporating more data within a single transmission.

The Snapdragon X75's dual performance capabilities, combined with ten other globally pioneering features supported by this modem and RF system, promise an enhanced user experience, faster download speeds, greater network capacity, and heightened spectrum efficiency. These attributes are poised to cater to future demands, ensure smoother terminal operation, and support applications with elevated data connection requirements, such as video streaming, online gaming, and more.

Sunil Patil, Vice President of Product Management at Qualcomm Technologies, remarked, "The Snapdragon X75 5G modem and RF system is the most intelligent wireless modem we have ever crafted, designed with a forward-looking architecture to support 5G Advanced features and empower global operators in defining the next-generation network. We look forward to continuing collaborations with industry leaders to provide the best connectivity experience and drive industry transformation across consumer, enterprise, and industrial scenarios."

The Snapdragon X75 is currently undergoing customer sampling, and commercial terminals are anticipated to be launched in the latter half of 2023.
