China Breaking The 500-kilometer Level, A New Record For On-site Optical Fiber Quantum Communication

On June 24, the reporter learned from the University of Science and Technology of China that Professor Pan Jianwei and his collaborators from the school successfully achieved 500-kilometer field non-relay optical fiber quantum key distribution, setting a new world record for field optical fiber quantum secure communication.

Relevant research results were recently published in the internationally renowned academic journals "Physics Review Letters" and "Nature Photonics".

The above-mentioned research results have successfully created a new world record for the longest distance of on-site optical fiber non-relay QKD. The bit rate of optical fiber exceeding 500 kilometers has broken the bit rate limit defined by traditional non-repeater QKD, that is, it exceeds the ideal detection. The limit of QKD coding without relay under the device (detector efficiency is 100%).
