Namibia completes deployment of two major fiber networks, accessing WACS this month
Nembus Infrastructure, a Namibian infrastructure company that acquired Paratus Africa in February 2018, announced that it has completed the deployment of two fiber networks from Windhoek, Namibia, to Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. The route has been put into use.

According to reports, the two fiber networks are part of the Trans-Kalahari Fiber project of the Pan-Khali Desert Network System. The system is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of May 2018. This new system aims to link up with the WACS submarine cable system and connects more countries in West Africa including Botswana and Zambia.
The first phase of the Namibia-Botswana fiber-optic network system from Windhoek to Swakopmund was completed in November 2017, while the second-phase project from Swakopmund to Walvis Bay was completed in January 2018. The third phase of the Windhoek to Botswana Buitepos project is expected to be completed this month.
