Telefónica Telecom Acquires Cloud Service Provider Altostratus
Telefónica Telecom recently announced that its technology division has acquired the Spanish cloud service company Altostratus Cloud Consulting. Since 2019, Altostratus has been the main partner of Google Cloud in Europe and currently serves more than 300 customers. Through the acquisition, Telefónica will gain experience and team in public cloud computing consulting, implementation, migration and management. The specific amount of the acquisition was not announced.
Altostratus' team will join Telefónica as a whole, and a blog post on the company's website stated that they will maintain a relatively independent operation in the future. Prior to this, they had maintained cooperation with Telefónica for many years.
The acquisition is also part of Telefónica's efforts to develop the cloud service market. In 2019, Telefónica officially launched its technology division responsible for cloud services, big data and network security businesses. In the following months, it announced its cooperation with Google Cloud. In April of this year, they also announced the completion of the complete integration of Acens, a cloud service subsidiary acquired in 2011.
