UScellular has announced its accelerated expansion of the 5G network, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to delivering faster and more extensive connectivity to its customers. The company has secured full usage rights to the 5G C-band spectrum, acquired during the March 2021 auction, enabling it to expand its 5G network at a faster pace than originally anticipated.
Earlier this year, UScellular upgraded over 440 cellular sites in preparation for the spectrum deployment. The enhanced 5G service, made possible by the C-band spectrum technology, will be rolled out in the coming weeks, three months ahead of schedule. This technology promises customers faster data transmission speeds and increased network capacity, resulting in improved network performance.
Mike Irizarry, Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of UScellular, stated, "Early access to the C-band spectrum has allowed us to expedite our plans and bring exceptional network experiences to more mobile and home internet customers ahead of schedule. As we advance our mission to connect people to what matters most, additional spectrum access is paramount."
Earlier this year, UScellular launched its 5G mid-band network in ten states. As the fourth-largest comprehensive-service wireless carrier in the United States, UScellular operates alongside the top three providers, Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. Headquartered in Chicago, the company offers a robust and reliable network supported by cutting-edge technology, providing a wide range of communication services that enhance consumer lives, boost local business competitiveness, and improve government operational efficiency.
