AT&T Is Speeding Up The Network For Home Fiber Optic Users
AT&T is providing speed-up services for its fiber-optic home broadband customers. The original 100Mbps home Internet package will no longer exist, and home fiber broadband will start from 300M. The network speed of the mid-range package is 500Mbps, and the high-end package is still 1Gbps. Like some other fiber optic broadband options, AT&T offers symmetrical download and upload speeds, and there is no upper limit on data traffic.

Customers who currently use the 100M package will automatically upgrade to the 300M package for free, while AT&T will also automatically upgrade the 300M package customers to the 500M package. The upgrade process will begin in June, and AT&T plans to notify customers via email, physical mail or SMS after the upgrade.
The pressure to increase speed mainly comes from competition from other operators, including T-Mobile and Verizon, which are already using 4G LTE and 5G networks to enhance their home Internet services. AT&T is preparing for the large-scale expansion of fiber optic home broadband in 2021. AT&T intends to expand its home broadband coverage by adding 3 million new fiber locations this year and possibly 4 million more locations.
