The 16F AR-Coated MPO MTP Trunk Cable is developed for high-density parallel optical testing and master reference applications. Its 16-fiber configuration supports multi-channel connectivity for next-generation optical module validation, production testing, and master reference links. The non-contact mating structure reduces direct fiber-to-fiber contact and end-face wear during repeated mating, helping protect valuable optical modules and other devices under test while extending the service life of the reference cable.

The end-face structure features a recessed 16-fiber array positioned slightly below the ferrule surface. During mating, the guide pins align the two MPO/MTP® ferrules while the opposing fiber tips remain separated by a controlled air gap. The AR coating applied to the recessed fiber end-faces helps reduce reflection at the fiber-air interfaces, allowing the non-contact structure to combine reduced mechanical wear with more consistent optical performance.

Fully interoperable with standard 16F MPO/MTP® adapters, transceivers, and test equipment, the cable can be integrated into existing test platforms without hardware modification. Typical applications include 800G and 1.6T optical module validation, master reference connections, production test systems, optical system calibration, and high-density test-link optimization. MNC-MNC double-coated and MNC-MPO single-coated configurations are available to accommodate different reference interfaces and test architectures.

Modified Non-Contact End-Face Design
The recessed 16-fiber array maintains a controlled air gap between the mating fiber end-faces. This non-contact structure reduces direct fiber contact, helping minimize scratches and wear during repeated mating.

AR-Coated Optical Interface
The anti-reflective coating reduces reflection at the fiber-air interfaces and limits Fabry–Perot interference, helping maintain consistent insertion loss and repeatable optical performance across the 16 channels.

Precision MPO/MTP® Connector
The connector is designed for compatibility with standard 16F MPO/MTP® adapters, optical modules, and test equipment. Male, female, APC, UPC, and different polarity configurations are available to support various test-system requirements.

Durable Outer Jacket
Available with LSZH, OFNR, or OFNP cable jackets, the assembly provides reliable mechanical protection, flexibility, and flame-retardant performance for laboratory and production test environments.
Optical Test Link
Beyond serving as a high-frequency master reference jumper, the MNC™ can also be used to optimize the optical test link. In a test system, the optical signal passes through multiple connections - "test equipment - reference jumper - MPO/MTP cable product under test (DUT)".
Reflection, end-face contamination, or insertion-loss fluctuation at any connection interface introduces measurement error and degrades link consistency and repeatability. With its non-contact, AR-coated end-face structure, the MNC™ effectively suppresses back-reflection at each interface, eliminates insertion-loss drift caused by repeated mating, and avoids damage to the DUT end-face, thereby building a cleaner, more stable and repeatable test link, as shown below.

In actual high-speed optical module testing from 100G to 1.6T, the MNC™ Master Reference Cable connects the test equipment to the module under test (DUT). A typical test topology includes both transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) paths, as shown below.
