Product Profile

The 12F ODVA MTP MPO Outdoor Patch cord combines a 12 fiber optical interface with a protective ODVA housing for outdoor fiber connections. Its bayonet coupling secures the connection to a matching ODVA adapter, while the sealed housing helps protect the optical interface from dust and moisture.

12 Fiber Connectivity A compact MTP / MPO interface for multiple optical channels.
Outdoor Protection A protective ODVA housing with secure bayonet coupling.
Flexible Configuration Selectable fiber type, cable length, jacket and polarity.

Designed for FTTA, remote radio equipment and outdoor cabinet interconnections, this cable assembly supports single mode or multimode configurations to suit different installation requirements.

Independent connector selection: The left and right connector specifications can be configured separately. Each end offers standard or low loss performance options, with male or female connector types selected independently.

FAQ

Click a question to view the answer.

Does the IP68 rating still apply when the connector is disconnected?

The rating applies to the tested assembly condition. Confirm whether it covers a fully mated connection, a disconnected port fitted with a specified sealing cap, or both. The validated immersion depth and duration must also suit the installation. A transport dust cover should not automatically be treated as a waterproof sealing cap.

How can I confirm compatibility with an existing ODVA port?

Check both the outer housing and the internal optical interface. Review the mating adapter model, coupling dimensions, key orientation, MPO ferrule format, guide pin arrangement and polish. Providing the equipment port drawing or adapter datasheet allows the complete mating interface to be reviewed before ordering.

Can both MPO ends of the cable be male?

Yes, provided each end mates with a compatible female MPO interface. Every mated optical pair requires one pinned ferrule and one unpinned ferrule. Here, male and female refer to the MPO guide pin configuration, independently of the outer ODVA housing. Select each cable end according to its actual mating interface.

Does a Type A trunk guarantee LC1 to LC1 routing across the complete link?

No. The final routing depends on both breakout assemblies, the trunk cable and the key orientation at each MPO interface. For an LC breakout link, define the required port correspondence, channel numbering and connector viewing direction on the complete link drawing. Verify every channel against that drawing after assembly.

How should insertion loss be evaluated in a link with several connections?

Build the channel loss budget from all mated connector pairs, fiber attenuation and any splices. Clarify whether a quoted loss limit applies to one interface or the complete assembly, and agree on test wavelengths and the reference method. Assess each fiber channel individually, as an acceptable average can conceal a failing channel.

Why can optical loss increase after a cable is reconnected?

Contamination can be introduced during handling, even when the connection was previously sealed. Inspect both mating MPO end faces, clean when necessary with a suitable MPO cleaning tool, and inspect again before mating. If loss remains high, check connector engagement, guide pin condition and cable bends, then test the affected channels to locate the problem.
