Product Profile

24F ELSFP Testing Cable provides 24 polarization maintaining fiber paths for external laser interface evaluation in CPO and NPO systems. The assembly connects the ELSFP optical interface to a defined test arrangement, allowing individual fibers to be identified, accessed and evaluated against the required optical performance criteria.

24 Fiber Test Access

Provides access to 24 optical paths, with opposite end terminations configured to suit the instruments, connection sequence and available space of the test fixture.

Defined Channel Mapping

Channel numbering and end to end correspondence can be specified in the assembly drawing, helping operators locate individual fibers during connection, measurement and troubleshooting.

PM Measurement Setup

PM fiber selection, polarization axis reference and cable routing are defined around the operating wavelength and measurement arrangement of the external laser test link.

Applications: CPO external laser path validation, NPO test fixture integration, individual channel optical measurements, and PM fiber connection verification.

ELSFP Interface Configuration

For a 24F ELSFP test assembly, fiber count is only one part of the interface specification. The connector side, MT ferrule arrangement and mating orientation must also match the device under test. Defining these details before assembly helps establish the intended optical connection between the ELSFP interface and the test equipment.

ELSFP host and module optical connector interfaces

Select the Mating Connector Side

The ELSFP optical connection uses complementary host and module interfaces. A test assembly intended to mate with a host interface requires the corresponding module connector, while testing a module interface requires the matching host connector. Specify the interface being tested when defining the cable configuration.

Fiber Count and Ferrule Layout

24F identifies the total number of fibers in this assembly. Ferrule quantity, populated positions and fiber arrangement are specified separately to match the required mating interface.

Connector Viewing Direction

The interface drawing should identify whether fiber positions are viewed from the mating face or cable side. A defined viewing direction prevents mirrored numbering when assigning the 24 fiber paths.

Mechanical Fit Confirmation

Review connector mounting, mating clearance and cable exit direction against the fixture drawing. These details determine whether the assembly can be installed and connected correctly within the available test space.

Product Features

24 Fiber ELSFP Test Connection
Combines 24 optical paths in an ELSFP test assembly, providing a defined interface between the device under test and the selected measurement connections.
Specified PM Axis Reference
Polarization maintaining fiber termination follows the specified axis reference, supporting polarization sensitive measurements with defined alignment requirements at the mating interface.
Identifiable Fiber Paths
Channel labels and fiber correspondence can be defined in the assembly drawing, helping operators connect the intended ports and associate measurement results with individual fibers.
Instrument Side Termination Options
The opposite end connector configuration can be selected for the test equipment, allowing the ELSFP interface to be incorporated into a dedicated measurement setup.
Fixture Specific Cable Layout
Overall length, branch lengths and cable exit direction can be specified around fixture dimensions, connector access and the planned routing between measurement ports.
Individual Channel Evaluation
Each optical path can be measured separately for IL, RL and PER, enabling acceptance checks across all 24 fibers according to the agreed test conditions.

FAQ

How can I verify that all 24 fibers are connected correctly?
Check each fiber against the approved mapping drawing. Confirm that every input position connects to its specified output, using the channel numbering and connector viewing direction defined in the drawing.
How is optical loss checked across the 24 fibers?
Measure insertion loss for each fiber at the agreed test wavelength and reference conditions. Compare every result with the acceptance limit to identify individual channels with excessive loss.
How is polarization maintaining performance verified?
Measure the polarization extinction ratio (PER) of each PM fiber under the specified launch and measurement conditions. Evaluate each channel against the agreed PER requirement rather than relying on an average across the assembly.
